It’s the beginning of the fall TV season and that means premieres are here! Returning favorites like “Outlander” will start again and new shows like “The Orville” will debut too.

“Outlander” is probably the most highly-anticipated returning show Sunday night. With over a yearlong hiatus, fans are dying to see Jamie and Claire again. The Season 3 premiere of the Starz drama will show Jamie (Sam Heughan) at the bloody Battle of Culloden. Meanwhile, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will be in 1948 with Frank (Tobias Menzies), and she’ll be grieving the loss of her husband while preparing for their baby to arrive.

Balfe has emphasized that Claire truly believes Jamie is dead in the premiere. “So she’s a widow, then, and for the sake of her daughter, she has to try and forge a new life,” the actress told Variety. “Women have that resilience. Claire is a survivor, and you will do anything for your child. So I think that that’s the only way she was able to shelve that memory of Jamie, in a way. Not that he ever leaves her, or leaves her thoughts — it’s not that. But I think if she thought that he was alive, and that there was a chance to go back, this life wouldn’t have been possible.”

Outlander Orville
“Outlander” Season 3 and “The Orville” Season 1 are just two of the TV shows premiering Sunday, Sept. 10. Starz, Fox

Fox’s “The Orville” is a new comedy that parodies “Star Trek.” Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy,” “American Dad!”) stars as Mercer, a man who finally gets to be the captain on a spaceship. However, his dream come true comes with a big problem: his cheating ex-wife (Adrianne Palicki) is the ship’s first officer. They will have to overcome their personal problems while running The Orville together.

For those looking for something raunchier, HBO’s “The Deuce” will also premiere Sunday. James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal star in the drama, which is a fictionalized account of the legalization of porn and the rise of the adult film industry from 1971 through the mid-1980s.

Sundance TV’s “Top of the Lake: China Girl” also returns Sunday. “Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss returns as detective Robin Griffin, who is investigating the disappearance of a young girl in Sydney. Nicole Kidman and Gwendoline Christie join her for Season 2, which will air over three consecutive nights.

Meanwhile, fan favorite drama “Fear the Walking Dead” returns with a two-hour midseason premiere. When Season 3 left off, the Clarks had murdered the Broke Jaw Ranch leader and staged it to look like a suicide. In the Season 3B premiere, Nick (Frank Dillane) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) will struggle to keep the peace while resources at the Ranch run low.
