‘Fallout 76’: Best Ways To Get Caps
KEY POINTS
- Mothman eggs can be sold for hefty amounts of caps
- Super Mutants tend to drop caps when defeated
- Drugs, food and ammo can also be sold in large amounts
The Nuka-Cola bottle cap is the standard form of currency used in the world of “Fallout 76.” They can be found in relative abundance all over the wasteland from a plethora of sources, but farming them will need a bit of know-how.
Apart from questing, breaking into safes, collecting Cap Stashes, or selling items to vendors, there are other ways to make more caps. Here are a few.
Public events
Grinding public events can be tedious, so it isn’t usually recommended. Players can make better use of their time by doing more lucrative activities, but they shouldn’t scratch events out completely.
Keep in mind that even the smallest bit of participation can net some rewards once an event is finished, so try to drop by and help out just a little to get some caps and other rewards for free.
Farming Super Mutants
The big, brutish Super Mutants often pack heavy firepower, making them very dangerous to go up against. However, they also drop caps more often than most other enemy types when killed. Apart from caps, the weapons they drop can also be sold or scrapped for more value.
Harpers Ferry, WesTek and the Eastern Regional Penitentiary are great spots for hunting mutants.
Best items to sell
Players who want to go down the honest trader route can simply go around the wasteland and sell random items to NPC vendors. The results will depend entirely on the type and quantity of merchandise players can get.
Drugs like Jet, Psycho and Med-X can sell for quite a bit at all vendors. Mothman eggs, straight jackets and resources in bulk can also be very profitable.
Selling to players
Placing a player vendor machine in a CAMP will essentially turn it into a trading spot. Stashed items will be put on sale for other players, which can be a great way to earn passive income. This will need a bit of market sense, however. Not every world has the same players, and not every player will need the same items.
As a rule of thumb, always try to put some unwanted legendary items for sale in vendor machines alongside surplus ammo and supplies since these are almost always in demand.
