Family Wants Bobbi Kristina Brown to Enter Rehab After Whitney Houston’s Funeral
Whitney Houston's funeral on Saturday in Newark will be a remembrance of and a tribute to the late superstar singer who changed the music industry with her heavenly voice. Celebrity attendees including Tyler Perry, Kevin Costner, Clive Davis and Dionne Warwick are among those scheduled to speak. Ray J and sister Brandy arrived along with Jesse Jackson. Aretha Franklin was scheduled to sing at the funeral but could not attend due to illness.
Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and ex-husband, Bobby Brown, will be in attendance. Bobbi Kristina has been distraught over the sudden death of her mother. On the morning after her mother died, the 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital after suffering a complete breakdown.
However, Bobbi Kristina's personal demons are being scrutinized after the death of her mother, which is blamed on a rumored mix of alcohol of prescription drugs.
TMZ reported on Saturday that the family wants Bobbi Kristina to enter a live-in rehab facility immediately. But they are holding off on telling the young girl until after Whitney Houston's funeral Saturday.
According to those connected with the family, Bobbi Kristina herself has struggled with substance abuse for the last three years. The family wants her to seek help for this. They hope she will enter a 60-day, live-in treatment facility before the problem is exacerbated. The family reportedly saw Whitney Houston fall off the wagon in the weeks before her death and they do not want Bobbi Kristina to go down the same path.
The family, according to TMZ, does not want to push Bobbi Kristina into a program just yet. They want to give her time to grieve the death of her mother.
The celebrity news Web site attempted to contact Bobbi Kristina, but to no avail. It is unclear if the teenager will listen to her family's advice or not.
In March of last year, photos surfaced of the young girl snorting cocaine. The photos were supposedly taken by Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend at the time, who said that the teen is addicted to cocaine. I've tried to stop her, he said in March. But all she said was, 'I'm just like my mother!' Whitney needs to see what her daughter is doing to herself. If Krissi [Bobbi Kristina] doesn't stop soon, this addiction to cocaine will kill her. The photos were taken in the town of Alpharetta, Ga.
Along with talk of cocaine use, Bobbi Kristina reportedly also indulged in marijuana, beer and Everclear, a grain alcohol. Krissi was pretty wired, the unnamed ex-boyfriend said about one particular party. I also saw her kiss a man and drink a 40-ounce bottle of Budweiser.
At the time, Bobbi Kristina took to her Twitter account to defend herself. The pictures - a former very dear person to me did this. Set me up to make it look exactly what it looks like. God will smite them yes. Confusingly, she added, But it's really not what it looks like ... People will do anything for money which is extremely sad, and I'm very hurt by this. She said that her ex-boyfriend took the photos and sold them. She said it was a horrible relationship that went sour. I was in love - he was in love with money. I've learned my lesson. Bobbi Kristina said that mother Whitney Houston was a great help. My mom just comforted me to the max and I'm so thankful for her.
Both Whitney and Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina's father, admitted that cocaine was their drug of choice during their 14-year, rocky marriage.
