Vin Diesel returns for "Fast and Furious 9." Universal Pictures

Vin Diesel has shared some new behind-the-scenes pictures from the production sets of “Fast and Furious 9.” Newcomer John Cena has started filming his scenes for the film, and wrestler-turned-actor got some directions from the veteran actor about the scenes they were about to film.

Cena, who will be playing a mysterious new character in the film, got a warm welcome on his first day on the set. Diesel shared a picture of the newcomer getting a hug from Ludacris.

Diesel praised Ludacris for extending a warm welcome to Cena, and he also expressed gratitude for being able to work with the two talented actors. Diesel also praised Ludacris for turning is character Tej into a household name.

After getting a warm welcome on the set, Cena also got some directions from Diesel, who will be reprising his role as the lead Dominic Toretto. The actor shared a black and white photo of him engrossed in a discussion with Cena on Instagram.

While filming for “Fast and Furious 9” is ongoing in full swing, it is not all work and no play at the production set. The cast and crew members recently celebrated Michelle Rodriguez’s birthday on the set and a group snap of the celebration was posted on the official Instagram page of the franchise.

Rodriguez will be reprising her role as Letty Ortiz in the film. Some of the other confirmed characters in the film include Cipher (Charlize Theron), Magdalene Shaw (Helen Mirren), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster).

The upcoming film is being directed by Justin Lin, who previously directed the 2009, 2011, and 2013 films from the “Fast and Furious” franchise. The director is rumoured to return to helm the next film as well.

“Fast and Furious 9” will be released on May 22, 2020. The producers are yet to announce the plot of the film.
