Father Allegedly Kills Toddler By Throwing Her Into Pond After Fight With Wife
A father in India allegedly killed his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter by throwing her into a pond in a fit of rage, following an argument with his wife.
The incident took place Wednesday in the western state of Maharashtra. The accused, identified as 30-year-old Jagannath Dhakne, was arrested by the police, Republic World reported citing Press Trust of India.
According to reports, Dhakne – who lived with his wife and his toddler daughter – worked at a farm. On Wednesday, he and his wife had an argument, following which he took his child away, while she was sleeping in a crib. He then went near a pond and tossed her into the water, the police said. The wife, who has not been identified, was unaware of what had happened to the child.
When his wife couldn't find her daughter in the crib, she started searching for her. Dhakne also joined the search, pretending their daughter had gone missing.
Later, a missing complaint was filed at the Chandanzira police station.
The police launched an investigation and started searching for the child. During questioning, the police found that Dhakne's timeline of the day was inconsistent, and he was changing his statements.
After further questioning by the police, Dhakne confessed to throwing her into the pond.

In July, a couple was arrested on charges of murder for allegedly killing the man's 7-month-old daughter from his first marriage. The duo also buried the child's body to conceal the crime. The man allegedly killed his daughter after he got irritated over the taunts of his second wife for failing to make their infant stop crying. The incident took place in Lucknow, a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The incident came to light when the infant's birth mother, identified as Pramilla, filed a complaint about her missing daughter. After the body of the child was found, the police conducted an autopsy that revealed the infant had an antemortem head injury and a fracture on the left hand. The father confessed to the crime after being questioned by police.
