Father Sentenced To 33 Years In Jail For Raping, Sexually Abusing His 3 Daughters

A father of four in Singapore has been sentenced to jail for repeatedly raping and sexually abusing his three daughters.

The 55-year-old man, who cannot be named due to gag orders, was sentenced to 33 years in jail on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to four charges of rape, aggravated rape and attempting to procure an indecent act. The court also took into account eight other charges during the sentencing, reported Channel News Asia.

The man, who worked as a cleaner, married his wife in 1993. The couple has three daughters, now aged 13, 22 and 26, and a 17-year-old son. He reportedly targeted each of his daughters upon turning 11 or 12 years old.

The horrific series of abuses began in 2005 when his eldest daughter was around 11 years old. The man, who reportedly watched pornography, assaulted the girl while she was doing her homework. He continued to rape her numerous times until sometime between 2010 and 2011 when he started preying on his second daughter who was 12 at that time.

The court heard that the man had raped and sexually assaulted the second daughter for almost nine years. She was allegedly assaulted a few times every week, reported The Straight Times. The girl was last raped in the kitchen on Oct. 19, 2019, while her mother was sleeping in the living room.

The father threatened his first two daughters and warned them against telling anyone about the abuses.

He then targeted his youngest daughter in 2019 who was 12 back then. The girl, who had already seen her father sexually assaulting her sister twice, knew his intention and started crying. The man was angry and frustrated but did not pursue it further.

The next day, the youngest daughter confided the incident to her friend who advised her to talk to her teacher. The teacher reported the case to the police and an investigation began.

The man was arrested and underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Singapore's Institute of Mental Health. He was diagnosed with pedophilic disorder with a high risk of sexual offending.

The eldest daughter was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and found to have suicidal thoughts. The second daughter also has PTSD and depression that needs psychological therapy in the future.

"The abuse perpetrated by the accused in this case can only be described as horrific," prosecutors told the court. "Two of the daughters understandably now suffer marked and permanent psychological scars from such actions. It would be fair to say that this case represents one of the worst of its kind when it relates to sexual offending," they added.

"The accused had caused significant physical and psychological harm to all three of his daughters and severely violated their trust in their own father," High Court judge See Kee Oon said during sentencing.
