FBI Denies Taliban claim of Responsibility for N.Y. shooting
The FBI, United State’s investigative agency, has rejected the claim of responsibility by a Pakistani Taliban militant leader for the attack in New York State.
New York witnessed a massacre on Friday night as a gunman went on a shooting rampage at an immigration service center, killing 13 people and wounding 4 others. He shot himself at last.
Baitullah Mehsud called the FBI by telephone from an undisclosed location on Saturday and claimed responsibility for the attack , according to an agency report.
They were my men, I gave them orders in reaction to the U.S. drone attacks,” claimed Mehsud.
Based on the evidence, we can firmly discount that claim, FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko said Saturday.
The U.S. is suspected of carrying out more than dozen such strikes over the past year in Pakistan near the Afghan border. The attacks have caused tension with the Pakistani government which frequently complains about the U.S. carrying out strikes on its territory.
