Federal Judge Slams Donald Trump, Says Al Gore 'Was A Man' About Election Loss
A federal judge slammed former President Donald Trump’s handling of his defeat in the 2020 election, saying Al Gore had a better case to challenge the 2000 election results and was “a man” about his loss.
“Al Gore had a better case to argue than Mr. Trump, but he was a man about what happened to him," said Senior District Judge Reggie Walton during a plea hearing on Monday.
CNN was the first to report to Walton's comments.
The 2000 presidential election came down to a razor-thin vote in the state of Florida that resulted in state-wide recounts, legal battles, and arguments whether ballots with “hanging chads” should be counted. The Supreme Court put a stop to the recount in Florida and in a 5-4 ruling handed Florida’s electoral votes to George W. Bush.
Walton’s comments came in a hearing for Capitol rioter Adam Johnson, who was photographed carrying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lectern through the Capitol building.
"What concerns me, sir, is that you were gullible enough to come to Washington, D.C., from Florida based on a lie," Walton told Johnson in court.
Trump has challenged the election results numerous times in court claiming voter fraud was the reason why he lost the election to President Biden.
Trump has lost 63 cases in federal court concerning the vote count of states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Many of the judges who dismissed the lawsuits were appointed by Trump himself. Nearly all lawsuits were dismissed due to a lack of evidence.
