'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Movie Clip: Christian Grey Visits Ana Steele At Clayton's Hardware [VIDEO]
With less than two weeks to go until “Fifty Shades of Grey” hits theaters, Universal’s promotion for the highly-anticipated romance film is in full-swing. As part of the “Today” show’s countdown to the film’s release, the morning show released the first official clip from the movie Monday, and luckily for fans of the E.L. James book, it’s doesn’t disappoint!
In the 1-minute, 43-second clip, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) can be seen paying a visit to his love interest, Anastasia “Ana” Steele (Dakota Johnson) at her part-time job, Clayton's Hardware. Just as the scene played out in James’ first novel in the “Fifty Shades” series, Ana is equally excited and awkward about running into the billionaire businessman at work.
“What a pleasant surprise, Ms. Steele,” Christian says to a very shocked Ana in the scene.
“It’s just Ana,” she replies.
“I was in the area on business," he says.
In the scene, Christian goes on to ask Ana to help him secure a few hardware items. On his shopping list: rope, masking tape and cable ties. Little does Ana know -- she think he's simply redecorating -- the items are all pieces of equipment he needs for his secret Red Room of Pain, a sexual hobby of his Ana has yet to be introduced to.
“Okay. Rope, tape, cable ties… You’re the complete serial killer,” Ana says.
“Not today,” Christian replies with a smirk.
The scene also shows a softer side of Christian when he inquires about Ana’s interests outside of work.
“Are you a girl scout?” he asks, only for her to reply that “organized group activities” are not her "thing.” When he asks her what is her thing, she tells him she is interested in books.
The on-screen duo were spotted filming the very same scene in Vancouver, Canada, in January 2014. Photos from the set showed Dornan sporting his casual Christian Grey attire seen in the clip. Ana’s blue VW Beetle “Wanda” was also spotted on set. While the cast was filming the indoor scenes, James, who served as a producer on the film, posted a suggestive message to her fans. “Mmm,” she captioned a photo of cable ties on Instagram.
The first “Fifty Shades” movie clip follows the release of multiple trailers and several TV spots for the film. The latest “Fifty Shades” teaser debuted during the 2015 Super Bowl Sunday.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is already set to become a blockbuster. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to gross between $45 to $50 million during its opening weekend, making it on point to become the second-biggest Valentine’s Day weekend opening of all time. The movie, set for a Feb. 13 release, also stars Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford, Marcia Gay Harden, Victor Rasuk and Luke Grimes.
