‘Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition’: Gameplay, Size & More Revealed
“Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition” is finally out. Square Enix’s new mobile game is now available for download from Apple’s iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
Below is everything you need to know about the latest title in the popular RPG saga:
Gameplay
As expected, “Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition” is a role-playing game. It is technically the abridged version of the “Final Fantasy XV” game that’s already available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is scheduled to hit the PC platform early next month.
The mobile game follows the same story as the main game. Players will use Noctis and his friends to save the nations of Lucis and Niflheim. Since this is a mobile game, Square Enix modified the appearance of the characters into cute versions.
“Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition” features 10 exciting chapters. Unfortunately, only the first chapter is available for free. For players who are serious in accomplishing the game, they’ll need to pay for the other nine chapters that are available for purchase once they are done with the first chapter.
Because this is a mobile game, controls for the actions of the characters are very easy. The adventure game only requires simple tap controls. Hence, players only need to tap to move, tap to talk and tap to fight.
Story
Square Enix has provided a concise description for the story of the game. “The Tale of the Chosen King, Savior to the Star. After years of fighting, the nations of Lucis and Niflheim at last agree to an armistice. As a symbol of this promised peace, Noctis, crown prince of Lucis, is to wed the Lady Lunafreya of Tenebrae. The prince sets forth for his wedding on the eve of the signing ceremony, sent off by his father, King Regis. Unbeknownst to Noctis, however, the journey ahead is fraught with perils.”
Size
According to Phone Arena, there are two versions of Square Enix’s new mobile game. There’s the basic version that only requires 5GB of storage space. The other version requires 8GB of free space because it is in higher resolution.
Pricing
“Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition” is free to download, but what players are getting for free is just the first chapter of the game. To continue playing the game, players can purchase the succeeding chapters individually. Pricing for the nine chapters ranges from $0.99 to $3.99. There’s is also an option to just purchase the full game for $20.
System Requirements
For Android users, they need to know that the new “Final Fantasy XV” mobile game is only compatible with phones running Android 5.0 or later. The Android smartphone should also have at least 1.5GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM, so the game could work smoothly.
On the other hand, Apple fans should take note that the game requires iOS 10.0 or later software versions, and it is compatible with iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices. Moreover, the free version of the iOS app is clocking in at 785.5 MB.
