First iPad Pro With Killer Display Reportedly Arriving in Late 2020
KEY POINTS
- The long-rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED display has reportedly entered into trial production
- Apple is presumably preparing to launch the iPad Pro with mini-LED in the late part of this year
- The Cupertino company will tap on LG for the supply of the panels and will assign Foxconn to do the final assembly, says a new report
The heavily rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a killer display might debut in the later part of this year, according to a new report. It looks like the much-talked-about premium tablet has entered into trial production. However, if Apple encounters blocks along the way, the late 2020 debut could push to early 2021.
The latest information about the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED display was picked up by Macrumors from the Korean publication, The Elec. According to the report, Apple will tap on LG for the supply of mini-LED panels. Additionally, the site claimed that Foxconn would handle the final assembly of the upcoming tablet.
Earlier, TFI Securities analyst and Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the mini-LED technology would enable Apple to come up with far thinner and lighter designs. The new technology would reportedly offer the same benefit that OLED displays offer, which includes dynamic range and high contrast. While the Korean publication claimed that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with Mini-LED could launch in the later part of this year, it also said that a 2021 release is highly likely.
The new set of information seemingly aligns with the previous claim by FrontpageTech’s Jon Prosser. According to him, Apple might release a new set of iPad Pro models with mini-LED display in the first half of 2021. The Apple tipster believed that the upcoming models would house Apple’s A14X chip and would feature 5G connectivity support.
Interestingly, some earlier reports noted that the production of the iPad Pro with mini-LED involves a very complicated process. Because of this, the release of the premium device could be delayed until 2021. Apple Insider noted that the use of mini-LED theoretically allows more power-efficient and high-contrast displays.
Additionally, the killer display reportedly coming to iPad Pro depends on thousands of LED backlights that allow for better control over brightness areas of an image. Apple has not yet confirmed about the rumored 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED. Since these details are not yet official, it is smarter to take these with a good measure of salt and with skepticism.
