First Photo Of Chloe Moretz As ‘Carrie’: It’s A Bloody One
Actress Chloe Moretz looks quite convincing as the mousy, Carrie, the abused teenager with telekinetic abilities from the adaptation of Stephen King's famed horror novel, "Carrie."
In a recently released photograph, Moretz is seen wearing what appears to be a prom dress and is completely drenched in blood, no doubt a glimpse from the iconic pig's-blood scene.
"We only have, like, four chances to get it right," Moretz said of the infamous scene. "Because that stuff stains your hair."
Sissy Spacek played the character in the first movie in 1976 and was later nominated for an Oscar. According to Moretz's co-star Judy Greer, her performance was just as riveting.
"Chloe's performance -- and this is literal -- has brought me to tears on set," she told E! News. "She's made me cry because I find her performance to be incredibly moving. I'm feeling a lot of compassion for her."
Moretz, who probably doesn't realize the magnitude of her performance, was just happy to have earned the role.
"[Brian] De Palma's movie is absolutely amazing," she said. "What we're actually doing is we're taking the book and we're breaking the book down and we're putting a lot of elements of the book into our story, so it's more of like a 'Black Swan' version of it. So you really see the mythology of the character and you really see everything going on with Carrie. It's darker."
Julianne Moore played Carrie's religious and totally off-kilter mother, a role made famous by actress Piper Laurie. "This woman has clearly had a psychotic break, perhaps several," Moore told Entertainment Weekly. "But what's sad about it for me is that she's clearly sick and here's this poor child in the thrall of this person who is seriously ill. And on top of that, they have this mother-daughter relationship. So we want to make that relationship as meaningful as possible, even though it is horrible and destructive."
Moretz beat out actresses Dakota Fanning and Lilly Allen for the coveted role."Never been so happy in my life!" she tweeted after the news was announced. "Thank you Kim Peirce and thank [you] MGM for the chance of a lifetime I will never forget!"
