‘The Flash’ Adds ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Alum Kendrick Sampson
“How to Get Away with Murder” alum Kendrick Sampson has landed a multi-episode role in Season 4 of CW’s “The Flash.”
According to Deadline, Sampson will recur as Dominic Lanse aka Brainstorm. Dominic is an affable Transportation Security Administration agent who becomes the unwitting recipient of meta-human powers which allow him to read people’s thoughts, whether he wants to or not.
As Sampson revealed on Instagram, he is set to make his debut as Dominic in Season 4, episode 9 — the show’s midseason finale airing on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
According to the synopsis, Amunet (Katie Sackhoff) kidnaps Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and puts meta-dampener handcuffs on her to keep her from turning into Killer Frost. Amunet tells Caitlin she needs her to perform a tricky medical task and if Caitlin fails, Amunet will kill her. Promo photos for the episode suggest that Caitlin will perform the tricky medical task of Sampson’s Dominic, which ComicBook.com described as one of the “bus metas” that Barry (Grant Gustin) and DeVoe (Neil Sandilands) are feuding over.
Unfortunately for Team Flash, Caitlin isn’t the only one who gets kidnapped. The synopsis reveals that DeVoe, aka The Thinker, traps Barry in a speedster-proof prison. And with the clock ticking, Team Flash doesn’t have the time or resources to track both Caitlin and Barry, so Iris (Candice Patton) is forced to choose who to save.
In the trailer for the episode, Iris tells the team that DeVoe took Barry, prompting Joe (Jesse L. Martin) to visit DeVoe’s house. “Where is my son?” Joe asks the treacherous professor.
“Has he gone missing?” DeVoe cunningly replies.
“He’s not missing. He was taken,” Joe answers.
Later in the promo clip, DeVoe messes with Barry by threatening to harm Joe. “There are no happy endings,” DeVoe tells the speedster as the villain shows a real-time CCTV video of Joe standing on DeVoe’s doorsteps.
Barry tries to stop DeVoe’s plan with Joe, but the Mechanic (Kim Engelbrecht) appears to remind Central City’s hero that there’s nothing he can do. “His body maybe human but his brain is smarter than yours,” The Thinker’s assistant and wife tells Barry.
In addition to his role as Caleb Hapstall in Season 2 of ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder,” Sampson’s other TV credits include The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” Fox’s “Gracepoint,” and Showtime’s “White Famous.”
