‘The Flash’: Ralph Dibny Gets New Costume In Season 4, Episode 11
Ralph Dibny will be sporting a new superhero suit in next week’s episode of “The Flash.”
As seen in the promo photos for Season 3, episode 11 of the CW series, Ralph — aka Elongated Man — is wearing a new snazzy costume as he faces off with Axel Walker/Trickster (Devon Graye) and Zoey Clark/Prank (Corinne Bohrer), who hold Cisco/Vibe (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin/Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) as hostages.
But even with a new suit at his disposal, Ralph is having some doubts that he can save his friends and defend Central City from Trickster and Prank. In the trailer for the episode, Ralph visits Barry (Grant Gustin) in Iron Heights and admits that he’s scared.
“I’m not fearless like you are,” the private investigator tells Barry.
“Having the ability to help someone, it’s a greater life,” Barry reminds the newest Team Flash member. “So rise up. Rise above that fear.”
As Ralph tries to rescue Cisco and Caitlin and defeat Trickster and Prank, Barry — as revealed in the synopsis for the episode — searches for the strength to keep his optimism alive as he remains detained by his trial.
The episode marks Graye’s return to the series. The 30-year-old actor made his first appearance on the show in Season 1, episode 17, in which it was revealed that Axel had been communicating with the imprisoned original Trickster, James Jesse (Mark Hamill). Unaware of the fact that he is his father, Alex grew close to James. Years later, Axel introduced himself to the world as the new version of Trickster. For his first trick, he sent parachute bombs over a park in Central City. But thanks to The Flash no one was harmed.
Axel then announced on a blog post that he would stage a bigger attack. Axel made the public believe that he had hidden a giant bomb to destroy the city. But in reality, it was just an effort to distract the police and the Scarlet Speedster so he could help James escape prison.
After their escape, James revealed to Axel that he let him take up the mantle of Trickster because he is his child. That night, the father and son headed to an event held by Mayor Anthony Bellows (Vito D’Ambrosio) where they poisoned all the guests. The duo then threatened everyone to electronically transfer their money to them. But The Flash arrived and the Tricksters’ plan was thwarted. At the end of the hour, Axel and James were taken by Central City Police Department for incarceration.
In addition to Graye and Bohrer, WWE legend Bill Goldberg also guest stars in next week’s episode as Barry’s fellow prison inmate Big Sir.
“The Flash” Season 4, episode 11, titled “The Elongated Knight Rises,” airs on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
