‘The Flash’ Season 3 Spoilers: EP Teases Captain Cold’s Return In Episode 4, ‘The New Rogues’
Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), a.k.a. Captain Cold, will make his first appearance in CW’s DC TV universe in Season 3, episode 4 of “The Flash” after getting killed off in the freshman run of “Legends of Tomorrow.” But what is he doing in Central City when he basically died when the Oculus blew up?
“The Flash” executive producer Todd Helbing was tight-lipped on how Captain Cold finds himself back in Central City, but he did say that the return of the cold gun-wielding rogue plays an important role in the introduction of a new pair of baddies.
“It’s an origin story for Mirror Master (Grey Damon) and Top (Ashley Rickards), and Cold’s role in that all makes sense when you see how he was brought back,” Helbing told TVLine.
According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, entitled “The New Rogues,” Mirror Master and Top team up to track down Captain Cold to even a score.
Even though it’s unclear what version of Captain Cold fans are going to meet in the episode, a popular theory among fans suggests that this new incarnation of Captain Cold is probably a product of Barry’s latest misadventure with time travel.
In addition to his comeback on “The Flash,” Captain Cold is also set to return to “Legends of Tomorrow.” According to TVLine, Miller will reprise his role in the mid-season 2 finale of the “Arrow” – “The Flash” offshoot.
As announced during the show’s panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last July, Captain Cold will appear in the sophomore run of the series as a member of the new villain group Legion of Doom, alongside Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), the Reverse-Flash / Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher) and Malcolm Merlyn / The Dark Archer (John Barrowman). But given his aforementioned death from the show last season, the Captain Cold that fans will meet in Season 2 is probably an earlier incarnation or a version of the character from the future.
