As revealed in the trailer for Season 3, episode 3 of “The Flash,” Jesse (Violett Beane) returns to Earth-1 as a speedster. But where did she get her super speed? Is her newly discovered power one of the ramifications of Barry (Grant Gustin) messing with the timeline?

Beane recently talked to Entertainment Weekly and she revealed that Jesse's transformation into a metahuman was not a product of Flashpoint or any of Barry’s misadventures with time travel.

“As far as Flashpoint goes, I’m pretty sure it only affects one world, the world that Barry changed the timeline for,” the 20-year-old actress said. “I’m pretty sure it doesn’t carry over to other worlds. The Jesse and Wells [Tom Cavanagh] you’re seeing are the Jesse and Wells of last season.”

Beane said that Jesse got her powers when she was hit by the dark matter during the time Team Flash recreated the particle accelerator explosion to get Barry’s speed back last season.

“The particle accelerator, the dark matter, is definitely a part of what happened to Jesse,” she said. “You’ll see in a scene in the [upcoming] episode about how specifically she started her powers. Yeah, the dark matter definitely had something to do with it.”

Beane has always wanted to suit up as her character’s speedster alter ego Jesse Quick ever since she found out who she’s playing in Season 2 of the CW series.

“I know I’m coming back [for Season 3, but] I don’t know if it's Jesse Wells or Jesse Quick,” Beane told TooFab.com last August. “I know I want to put a suit on, so I hope soon and as Jesse Quick!”

When asked why she couldn’t wait to put on her very own superhero suit, Beane said: “It adds something; it makes you more confident and aware of yourself.”

Although Beane admitted to Entertainment Weekly that she “definitely anticipated a suit-up last season,” she previously said that she understands the show’s decision to first develop her character as a regular person before introducing her as the metahuman Jesse Quick.

“I think that’s a really smart idea because people want what they can’t have,” Beane told Bustle last May. “And everyone’s wanting all these speedsters to be out there running together. [But] once that happens, people will be like ‘Ah, whatever, they’re all running fast.’ So it’s a really smart way to do things on their end for sure.”

“The Flash” Season 3, episode 3, entitled “Magenta,” airs on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Check out the synopsis for the episode below:

“Barry and Team Flash are thrilled to reunite with Earth-2 Wells and Jesse. Wells confides to Barry and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) that Jesse has all the powers of a speedster and has been saving people on his Earth. He is concerned about her safety and wants them to talk her out of using her powers. Meanwhile, Magenta (Joey King), a new meta who can control metal, terrorizes the city.”
