‘The Flash’ Spoilers: Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes Tease Conflict Between Iris, Cisco
Iris and Cisco won’t see eye to eye in Season 4, episode 1 of CW’s “The Flash.”
During a panel at Heroes and Villains FanFest in New Jersey last weekend, Candice Patton and Carlos Valdes revealed that there’s going to be a conflict between Iris and Cisco in the season premiere.
“Iris (Patton) and Cisco (Valdes) butt heads a little bit in episode 1,” Valdes said (via Geeks of Doom) “There’s never been any antagonistic energy with these characters before.”
As for the cause of their disagreement, Patton revealed that Iris and Cisco have very different ideas on whether they should take Barry out of the Speed Force. “It gets really tenuous,” the actress teased.
Valdes first teased the conflict during an interview with Entertainment Weekly last August. “I wish I could say that the team unanimously agrees that things are not the same when the season starts, but not everybody feels that way,” Valdes said at the time. “Most of the energy on the team is toward getting Barry back, and Cisco may or may not have some things up his sleeve with regards with how to make that happen, but there is a member of the team that’s not on board, and that ultimately makes the mission to get Barry back a lot more difficult.”
Although members of Team Flash won’t agree on that matter, executive producer Todd Helbing previously said that Barry’s absence has actually made the team tighter and more fearless.
“Everybody has risen to the occasion, everybody has stepped up,” the exec producer said in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly. “You have Iris now as team leader, you have Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Vibe (Valdes) going out on the town and taking out all the meta, they’re working closely with Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and CCPD. They’re pretty formidable.”
Apparently, fans won’t wait that long to see Barry get out of the Speed Force. In a promo teasing the new season, Barry returns to Central City and is reunited with Iris, Cisco, Joe (Jesse L. Martin), Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). It appears, however, that Barry is not in good mental state. Will he recover in time to rescue Iris who has been abducted by a samuroid?
“The Flash” Season 4 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
