Florida Teacher Sent Naked Photos To Teen On Xbox Live, Police Say

A Florida high school teacher was arrested Sunday for sending nude images of herself to a 15-year-old Texas boy. Robin Dunlap, 27, voluntarily turned herself into the Winter Haven Police Department on Sept. 19 after learning the person on the other side of the conversations was 15, rather than 19 as she had been led to believe, reported by WFTS-11.

Dunlap, a teacher at Haines City High School in Haines City, Florida, told police in September that she sent nude photos to the boy in Texas before learning his real age. He told Dunlap over their initial conversations on the Xbox Live online gaming service on Xbox One that he was 19. As the two continued communicating through alternative means on their cell phones, the conversations became more sexual in nature. When the boy’s mother found out what was going on, she contacted Dunlap and told her the truth about her son’s age, according to the police report.

In October, more than a month after turning herself in, the Winter Haven police found out Dunlap had not ceased contact with the boy even after learning his true age. Detectives went to her home on Sunday, where Dunlap admitted she never stopped talking to the teenager. According to Dunlap, “he is the only person that she can talk to and the only one who understands her.”

She then gave police permission to look at conversations stored in her phone between Nov. 26 and Dec. 11, which reportedly contained “sexually explicit language,” per the police report. Because Dunlap confessed to continuing sexual contact with the teenager after knowing his real age, she was arrested.

Dunlap was charged with two felonies, one for sending sexually explicit messages to a minor and another for using an electronic device to commit a felony. A spokesman for Polk County Public Schools told The Ledger that the district is investigating the matter and will make a decision regarding Dunlap’s employment at some point in the future.
