Ford (F) fans can now hit the trails with the Maverick as the compact pickup truck is being offered with the Tremor Off-Road package for 2023.

Ford will reopen orders in September for the Maverick, which was halted in January due to high demand. The Detroit-based automaker said back in June that it had sold 52,000 Mavericks since it launched the hybrid truck last fall, CNBC reported.

As an entry-level truck, the Maverick Tremor gives truck enthusiasts off-road capability in a compact vehicle from Ford. The Tremor package is only available on the XLT and Lariat series models of the Maverick.

When equipped with the Tremor upgrade, the trucks will have an all-wheel drive system that is paired with a 2.0 L EcoBoost engine. Off-road capability comes from the twin-clutch rear-drive unit outfitted with a differential lock designed to divert all rear axle torque to either wheel.

Ford’s Trail Control feature is standard on the truck, providing cruise control functions when off-roading. Drivers just set the speed while the truck manages throttle and braking, allowing complete steering focus during more challenging drive conditions.

Five selectable drive modes are offered on the truck to allow for on-road or off-road driving on pavement, mud, sand, or snow. The Maverick also has towing capabilities up to 2,000 pounds and enhanced front and rear springs and shocks. Ride height has been increased by 1 inch, and a heavy-duty transmission cooler and upgraded half-shafts were also installed. A 1,200-pound payload rating is offered.

The exterior appearance of the truck takes on traditional Tremor styling with a new grille design, blacked-out Ford logos, headlamps, and taillamps. Tremor Orange accents are integrated into the two front hooks. An optional Tremor Appearance package ($1,495) with carbonized gray-painted roof and mirror caps and black-side graphics on the hood and lower body are also available.

The interior design of the Maverick Tremor includes Black Onyx seats with Tremor logos and orange accents and a new color scheme on the center console, vents, and door pulls.

“Ranger, F-150 and Super Duty customers have embraced the unique off-road capability, technology and appearance updates found across our Tremor family of trucks. Maverick Tremor delivers on this same promise with new functions and features designed for off-roading – all while keeping the truck’s signature size, affordability, and Built Ford Tough durability and capability,” Todd Eckert, Ford truck product marketing and brand manager, said in a statement,

Ford is selling the Maverick Tremor Off-Road package for $2,995. Production of the 2023 Maverick will begin this fall, Ford said. Price tag on the Maverick starts at $20,995, according to Ford’s website.

As of Monday premarket hours, shares of Ford were trading at $14.84, up 15 cents or 1.02%.
