Ford Recall 2022: These Truck, SUV Owners May Be At Risk Of Losing Their Windshields
Just days after issuing its first recall for its F-150 Lightning pickups over a tire inflation issue, Ford (F) has now recalled a series of Bronco SUVs and Ranger trucks because their windshields could separate from the vehicle.
The recall affects over 63,000 Bronco SUVs and Ranger trucks with a 2022 model year.
Ford said the problem with the vehicles stems from an improper bonding of the windshield to the truck or SUV. This could cause the windshield to detach during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Recalled vehicles may also have increased wind noise or water leaks, the automaker said.
The windshield issue is also a violation of a federal motor vehicle safety standard.
To repair the affected vehicles, Ford dealers will remove and reinstall the windshield at no charge to the Bronco or Ranger owner.
Notifications of the recall will be mailed out to impacted owners on July 11.
Questions about the recall can be directed to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
Ford said the cause of the faulty windshield bonding is currently unknown.
