Former “American Idol” contestant, Pia Toscano, to record album
Last week's episode of American Idol proved to be quite the shocker as front-runner Pia Toscano was eliminated from the competition.
Fox News is reporting that the 22-year-old singer has signed with Interscope Records.
According to a report from US Weekly, Jimmy Iovine, who was the American Idol's mentor and Interscope Records are rushing the Howard Beach, Queens native to the studio to record an album.
Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it, a source familiar with the situation told US Weekly.
The same source said that paperwork is being finalized and that the deal is practically done.
Toscano made it to the Top 9 of American Idol but was voted off after receiving the fewest votes among the remaining contestants. Toscano will tour this summer with her fellow American Idol contestants.
