Former ‘American Idol’ Star Joey Cook Arrested In Wyoming Airport For Possession Of Marijuana; See Her Mugshot Photo
Former "American Idol" contestant Joey Cook was arrested Friday after marijuana was discovered in her luggage at an airport in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The 24-year-old singer was supposedly headed to Denver where she's expected to perform with the band Postmodern Jukebox.
According to TMZ, Cook spent five hours in jail and was released after paying a $240 fine. She also received 12 months of probation. See her mugshot photo below.
Cook made it pretty far on Season 14 of the Fox competition show last year. The Virginia native, who was known for using her accordion to make quirky renditions of pop songs, finished in seventh place. She went on to tour with other "American Idol" Season 14 contestants over the summer, before linking up with Postmodern Jukebox to tour with them.
According to Billboard, Cook revealed in July that she was trying to finish her album as well as release a book.
“It will be filled with funny stories from my childhood and my experiences previous to ‘American Idol,’ as well as pages from my journals, including doodles, comics and the creation of my songs," she said at the time. "There will be scratched out lyrics that never made it onto the album, rants about unreliable public transportation and my dreams of making it to the big time.”
As previously reported, "American Idol" is heading into its 15th and final season with returning judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban. There are a number of surprises planned for the farewell season including appearances from original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, as well as past contestants. Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood previously said they hoped to return for the last season.
"American Idol" Season 15 will premiere Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
