Honduran police have arrested former Miss Honduras 2009 on charges of money laundering. She failed to declare the equivalent of $47,000 while entering the country.

According to special services police spokesman Alex Madrid, 25-year-old Belgica Suarez was arrested in possession of Euros and British pounds on a Honduran highway near the Nicaraguan border. He said, the beauty queen failed to declare the money when she crossed the border from the city of Esteli in Nicaragua, an AP report said.

She claimed she had earned the money working as a model in Europe, Madrid added.

Honduran law bounds travelers to declare to the customs that they are carrying more than $10,000. Suarez, alongwith a Nicaraguan driver was arrested.
