Former MLB All-Star Denies Allegations By Reality TV Star Wife Of Affair With 22-Year-Old Nanny

Former Major League All-Star Jim Edmonds has denied accusations made by his wife, "Real Housewives of Orange County” star Meghan King Edmonds, of an affair with one of their children’s nannies.

The longtime St. Louis Cardinals center fielder took to Instagram to push back against the allegations, insisting that he hadn’t done anything behind his wife’s back. He posted about the situation along with a cover picture of himself from a 2002 issue of Sporting News magazine. The Instagram post has since been deleted.

“It’s one thing to be accused of something. It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people,” Jim Edmonds wrote.

The accusations surfaced Friday in an Us Weekly article in which sourced claimed Meghan Edmonds confronted Jim Edmonds, saying he had been sleeping with their 22-year-old nanny, Carly Wilson. Jim Edmonds reportedly denied it multiple times. The confrontation was followed by a week of arguments between the couple. It reportedly escalated to the point that Meghan Edmonds called the police.

“During the argument, Meghan called the cops, but nothing came of it,” the source told Us Weekly. “Jim didn’t put his hands on her. The police chalked it up to a verbal dispute. No arrests were made.”

Jim Edmonds subsequently filed for divorce on Friday.

“She’s not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home,” Jim Edmonds wrote on Instagram. “We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child.”

While he has strongly denied the latest accusation, Jim Edmonds had previously been caught in another affair while with Meghan. He admitted in June to the affair with woman identified as Jennifer McFelia Villegas, who was dubbed the “Baseball Madame.” He apologized, saying he had a “lapse in judgment.”

Jim Edmonds, 49, had two previous marriages. He spent 18 seasons in the Majors and also served as a broadcaster.

Meghan Edmonds, 35, had appeared on "The Real Housewives of Orange County" for three seasons. She announced her departure from the program in January 2018. Jim Edmonds had appeared on the show, as well.

The couple married in October 2014. They have three children together.
