Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell Gets Married In Phillipa Lepley Dress
Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell married Formula 1 racing team boss Christian Horner in Britain on Friday. Halliwell wore a classic wedding gown by London designer Phillipa Lepley. The bride and the designer worked in tandem on every aspect of the dress, which took several fittings to create.
Talking to Hello, Lepley said they worked on the dress in Lepley's studio for the last few months and Halliwell was very pleased with the results. She added that Halliwell wanted a “simple, clean and couture” bridal look and that the lace quality of the long-sleeve gown and hidden corset made the dress “feminine and very English.” Lepley added that the cut of the dress defines the female form, and still gives drama with the huge skirt.
According to the designer, the dress is a fairy-tale classic that will remain timeless. She said that the she was thrilled with how Halliwell looked in the dress. The 42-year-old paired her gown with a classic veil and a bouquet of pink and white roses. She accessorized with pearl earrings, photos of which the former Spice Girl shared on Instagram.
The star arrived for her fairy-tale wedding in a vintage Rolls Royce t the Bedfordshire church. Halliwell was accompanied down the aisle by her 9-year-old daughter Bluebell, who was wearing a blue dress with a large floral crown made up of freesias. Meanwhile, the groom arrived with his best men, looking calm and relaxed as he prepared to walk down the aisle in a sharp three-piece suit.
Halliwell's pal Victoria Beckham, could not attend the wedding due to work in Singapore. But Beckham reportedly gave her friend a designer dress for her honeymoon as a wedding gift, to make up for the absence. “She also sent a touching message of love and support and a giant flower arrangement, which was so big a [personal assistant] was struggling to find space for it,” an insider told the Sun.
