‘Fortnite X Avengers’: Here’s How Game Mode Looks And Feels Like
In celebration of the release of Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame,” Epic Games’ popular battle royale “Fortnite” introduced a new limited time mode aptly named “Endgame.”
Epic has released “Fortnite” update patch v8.50, and it includes a limited time mode where players can join the Hero side and wield weapons used by some Avengers, or join the Chitauri and fight beside evil villain Thanos as he restores balance to the universe.
Just like other “Fortnite” modes, “Endgame” battles will take place in a standard “Fortnite” map that becomes smaller as the fights last longer. Players on each side will need to stay alive as they fight to eliminate the opposing team. Each team has their specific advantages and disadvantages. Here’s how each team will fight:
Hero Team
Players joining the Hero team will be given a chance to wield one of four weapons owned by the Avengers: Iron Man’s Repulsors, Captain America’s Vibranium Shield, Hawkeye’s Bow, and Thor’s Stormbreaker axe.
The Hero team’s goal is to prevent Thanos from collecting all six stones, and to eliminate him and the whole Chitauri team to save the universe. Players on the hero team will keep respawning until Thanos collects all six stones, after which they will have only one life each.
Team Thanos
Those who join Thanos in his quest to bring balance to the universe will play as a Chitauri at the start, and will have a laser rifle, an anti-structure grenade attack, and a jetpack. The first Chitauri to get an Infinity Stone will be transformed into Thanos.
Thanos can punch enemies, shoot powerful beams at them, or smash them on his way down from a jump. Acquiring Infinity Stones makes him more powerful and gives bonuses to all Chitauri.
Thanos’ goal is to collect all six stones and then to eliminate all members of the Hero team. If he is eliminated from the match, another Chitauri will replace him as long as he is not the last player on the enemy team.
Enjoyable
Kotaku said “Fortnite Endgame” is an enjoyable take on the Marvel hit -- whether a player is a fan of Marvel or not at all. It’s live now, and “Fortnite” players can download it from Epic Games’ website.
