Four Bouts To Watch Out For At Pivotal PFL 4

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) returns to action this weekend, with another stacked card of fights that will set the tone for the upcoming playoffs.

PFL 4, which emanates live from the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, June 17th, will feature bouts in the lightweight and light heavyweight divisions.

With spots in the playoffs up for grabs, stakes are high and the action will definitely pick up as the season heads into the home stretch.

With that being said, here are some of the bouts to watch out for at PFL 4.

Clay Collard vs. Alexander Martinez

Friday night’s headliner features a must-see lightweight contest between Clay Collard and Alexander Martinez.

Both Collard and Martinez were semi-finalists during the 2021 season, and both are looking to return to the playoffs this year.

Collard--who figures in his second-straight headlining bout--defeated Jeremy Stephens at PFL 1 back in April, while Martinez edged out Stevie Ray on the same card.

With both lightweights sitting at three points in the lightweight standings, expect these two to look for a finish and pick up six points to better their chances of getting into the final four.

Collard’s ability to brawl and Martinez’s all-around skill should make the main event a highly-anticipated encounter.

Antonio Carlos Jr. vs. Bruce Souto

PFL 4’s co-main event will see 2021 PFL light heavyweight champion Antonio Carlos Jr. taking on PFL Challenger Series contract winner Bruce Souto.

The reigning 205-pound king has been nothing short of impressive in his PFL career, with victories over the likes of Tom Lawlor, Marthin Hamlet and former titleholder Emiliano Sordi.

This season, “Shoeface” put himself in prime position for a title repeat after a 29-second submission over Delan Monte at PFL 1.

The same can’t be said for Sout, who dropped his PFL Regular Season debut against Rob Wilkinson.

All isn’t lost yet for Souto as he can salvage his playoff hopes with a big win over the defending champion.

A dominant Carlos Jr. taking on a hungry Souto could make this an intriguing contest.

Jeremy Stephens vs. Myles Price

Kicking the main card off will be UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens targeting his first PFL win when he meets Myles Price.

One of the reasons why Stephens is beloved by mixed martial arts (MMA) fans is because he always comes to fight.

In his PFL debut against Clay Collard last April, Stephens did just that and went to war with Collard for three action-packed rounds.

While Stephens lost, he showed just what he can bring to the PFL cage.

Price, meanwhile, also suffered a loss at PFL 1 and will also try to keep his playoff hopes alive.

Marthin Hamlet vs. Josh Silveria

In what should be an interesting undercard battle, 2021 light heavyweight finalist Marthin Hamlet will take on prospect Josh Silveria.

Last season, Hamlet came within a win away from capturing the PFL light heavyweight championship but ran into a juggernaut named Antonio Carlos Jr.

In his maiden 2022 season appearance, Hamlet defeated Teodoras Aukstuolis to put him right back in title contention.

Silveria, on the other hand, was a standout who put on an impressive showing in the PFL Challenger Series.

Silveria is a two-division LFA champion and the son of MMA legend Marcus “Conan” Silveria, which explains a lot of the hype surrounding his arrival to the league.

He will be making his PFL regular-season debut against a very tough opponent in Hamlet.
