Fox has announced a new reality television show to premiere in January 2013. “Stars in Danger: The High Dive” will combine celebrities and high diving and may be Fox's attempt at creating the next great reality program.

JWOWW doing a reverse somersault tuck off a high dive could be coming to a screen near you thanks to Fox's “Stars in Danger: The High Dive,” reports Reuters. The show's premise is simple: Get celebrities on a high board and have them face off in an Olympic-style diving competition. The extra kick is these celebrities confronting their fear of heights while also performing difficult routines.

“Stars in Danger: The High Dive” will premiere on Fox on Jan. 9 as a two-hour special, reports Reuters. The show will be hosted by, and the contestants coached by, diver Troy Dumais. Dumais is a four-time U.S. Olympian, competing in the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 games. He won the bronze medal for synchronized 3-meter springboard in 2008 and 2012.

Fox's “Stars in Danger: The High Dive,” is based on a German reality show, “TV Total Turmspringen,” reports Reuters.

Jennifer Farley, better known as JWOWW of “Jersey Shore,” will be one of the featured contestants on the show. She will be joined by Terrell Owens, former National Football League wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles; David Chokachi and Alexandra Paul, stars of “Baywatch”; Kim and Kyle Richards, from the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and soap opera star Antonio Sabato Jr., reports Reuters.

Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton will also be a contestant. Hamilton was attacked by a shark in 2003 and lost her left arm, and wrote about her experience in “Soul Surfer.”

The eight contestants will compete against one another at various dive heights, in solo as well as synchronized diving competitions.
