- The leak comes from a Resetera user who accurately predicted other game announcements at E3 2021
One of the upcoming free games for PS Plus July 2021 has seemingly leaked and, if it turns out to be true, players will be in for an emotional ride in a cruel and unforgiving world.
“A Plague Tale: Innocence” will reportedly be included as one of PlayStation Plus’ free games for next month according to VGC, following leaks from the online community. Resetera forum member Deluxera accurately predicted two “Plague Tale”-related announcements two days ahead of their official dates at E3, including the upcoming sequel “A Plague Tale: Requiem” and ports of the original game for PC and the Nintendo Switch.
Deluxera also told PS5 owners to refrain from buying “A Plague Tale: Innocence” as a next-gen remaster is allegedly coming to PS Plus in July. A few days after Deluxera’s prediction, “Plague Tale” developers announced that an enhanced version of the game was indeed coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X, featuring upscaled graphics and a frame cap of 60 FPS along with other graphical enhancements.
“A Plague Tale: Innocence” is a story-driven singleplayer adventure game set in France during the era of the Black Death. The game is experienced through the perspective of Amicia as she tries to keep herself and her younger brother Hugo safe from peril. Players must evade swarms of plague-ridden rats and merciless Inquisition soldiers as the siblings attempt to survive against all odds.
The game’s story and premise are simple but the sheer depth of the main characters is more than enough to keep things interesting. “A Plague Tale: Innocence” received several award nominations, including one for a BAFTA Award for Technical Achievement. The game won awards for writing, art direction and actor performance as well.
Critics and players alike praised “Plague Tale” for its emotionally-moving and overwhelming story, engrossing soundtrack and high visual fidelity. However, some noted that it felt more like a movie instead of a game, with narrative-related and storytelling elements taking precedence over actual game mechanics and variety.
The game is a must-try for fans of story-driven titles like “Detroit: Become Human” and other similar titles. Should the leaks prove true, then PlayStation owners will be able to enjoy this title along with a few others via the monthly PS Plus subscription.
