The 2020 presidential election has prompted widespread jokes and witticisms on Twitter, poking fun at President Donald Trump, his family's response to the election and voting in such an unusual presidential race.

The election appeared to be ideal fodder for many users, who seemed to have plenty of material to work with. There was no shortage of topics, with one being the delay in announcing the winner.

Some users mocked Trump’s false declarations about winning states such as Pennsylvania and Michigan. The #IHaveWonPennsylvania hashtag was used to belittle the president’s premature claims about victory.

Users also joked about Trump’s claims about mail-in ballots. Trump had urged his supporters to not use mail-in ballots and has expressed surprise that the mail-in vote overwhelmingly favors Joe Biden in many areas.

Others joked about Trump’s seemingly precarious marriage with his wife, first lady Melania Trump. One user joked about the president sending his son, Eric, to Pennsylvania to contest the results in the state.

Comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien poked fun at the inaccuracies of some pollsters about how the race would go. “Wait, so the 83 people who still own a landline in the US didn’t properly represent all of America in the polls?” O’Brien tweeted.

Trevor Noah, host of the "The Daily Show," poked fun of the long wait to learn results from Pennsylvania, a key swing state. Hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania still need to be counted and could tilt the general election to Joe Biden.
