Galaxy Tab 10.1 beats iPad 2 in slimness
Samsung's most recent tablet device is the thinnest tablet in the market. It is 8.6mm (10.9mm previous model) thin which is thinner than its main competitor, the iPad 2 (8.8mm).
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 weighs 1.31 pounds (595g) which is less than the iPad 2's weight 1.33 pounds (601g).
Samsung coming up with thinner iPad was quite predictable since Samsung's Executive Vice President of mobile divison Lee Don-Joo has admitted that the first Galaxy Tab was too thick compared to iPad. We will have to improve the parts that are inadequate... Apple made the iPad 2 very thin he said when the iPad 2 was launched in United States.
Samsung also has introduded Galaxy Tab 8.9 which is a bit smaller than the 10.1 version. Both of the Galaxy Tabs are equipped with 1Ghz Dual Core Processor with 21 Mbps HSPA+. Also, the front and back camera of Galaxy Tab has 3 megapixel and & 2 megapixel offering Flash video playback and 1080p HD. (iPad 2's front camera is 0.3 megapixel and 0.7 megapixel at the back).
However, early launch of iPad 2 and its success in the United states market and it's well established apps market will make it very difficult for Samsung, Motorola and other competitors to catch up with tablet leader Apple. Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be launched later in summer; $469 for the 16GB version and $569 for 32GB.
