'Game Of Thrones' Season 5: Behind-The-Scenes Special Announced; When Will New Episodes Premiere?
“Game of Thrones” has been rolling out lots of promotional material for its coming fifth season, including an in-the-works metal mix tape and the viral Three-Eyed Raven social media campaign. But hardcore fans might be even more interested in the recently confirmed “Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life” featurette. Fan site Watchers on the Wall first reported the behind-the-scenes special, which HBO later confirmed will air on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Few details about the special have been released, but one clue might be the similarly timed featurette released last year ahead of Season 4. That special, “Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing,” offered a 15-minute peek at the fourth season, including never-before-scene footage, cast interviews, and answers to fan's questions. Fans will most likely be looking for more candid cast confessionals like Kit Harrington’s recent comments about the show’s violent deaths. Watchers on the Wall also points out that the Season 4 trailer was released in January 2014 before the featurette, so the wait for a new trailer in 2015 may be over soon.
But when will Season 5 actually arrive? The date remains a matter of speculation as HBO has yet to set a premiere date. Previous seasons’ premiere dates have ranged from March 31 (Season 3) to April 17 (Season 1), with Season 4 premiering on April 6, 2014. Considering “Game of Thrones” airs on Sundays, if the show stays true to that range, then either April 5 or April 12 could possibly be the much-anticipated day this year.
In the meantime, fans will have to be content with the behind-the-scenes special. “Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life” airs on Sunday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. EST on HBO and HBOGO.
