'Game Of Thrones' Season 6: Filming In Macedonia And Possibly Spain

The cast and crew will reportedly be back at the Markovi Kuli Towers to film scenes for “Game of Thrones” Season 6. Apart from some of the locations in Macedonia, the producers also will be filming in Spain.

According to a report by Express, the Markovi Kuli Towers in Macedonia was one of the locations where scenes of the Season 5 finale were filmed. The ruins of the fortress at this location is said to have belonged to a medieval ruler called Marko Mrnjavcevic. Scenes of the fantasy city of Meereen are said to have been filmed at this location previously.

The report speculates that scenes involving Daario Naharis, played by Michael Huisman, and Jorah Mormont, played by Iain Glen, may be filmed at this location for the next season. Scenes involving Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, and the Dothraki horde are also expected to be filmed here. The location has been described as “rocky and barren” and the weather is said to be hot for most of the year.

According to the report, the other locations in Macedonia for “Game of Thrones” Season 6 are the city of Prilep, Orhid and the eastern parts of Krivolak. The producers of the show are said to have visited these locations before filming begins in July.

The report notes that some previous locations where the cast and crew have filmed scenes include Croatia, Morocco, Northern Ireland and Iceland. Another country not mentioned in the report is Spain, where some of the scenes in Season 5 were filmed. According to a report by Watchers on the Wall, the producers may return to Spain for Season 6 as well.

According to the report, the city of Almeria, Spain, may be a new location for “Game of Thrones” Season 6. The report notes that the Tabernas Desert near the city makes it unnecessary for the producers to travel to Bardenas to film the relevant scenes there. Almeria is in the same province as Seville, where some of the scenes in Season 5 were filmed.
