Though best known for her role in “Game of Thrones” as Margaery Tyrell, Natalie Dormer has appeared in several other productions, including Netflix’s “The Dark Crystal,” Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful,” and even the video game “Mass Effect: Andromeda.” She’s likewise offered opinions on best beauty products and fashion styles, and now, she steps into the shoes of producer with Dog Rose Productions.

According to Deadline, Dormer’s production company will work alongside Fremantle, which has first-look rights on distribution and co-development on all projects made under Dog Rose. The pair’s next title will be “Spitfire Sisters,” a true story about female fighter pilots in the midst of World War II, after their collaboration on “Vivling.”

“Emelia” playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm will be penning the script with Dormer on as executive producer and Danielle Glaze-Adams acting as development executive under Dog Rose productions.

“It’s important to me, as a writer, to tell stories that have been ignored and to shine a light on perspectives that we have lacked for so long,” Malcolm said. “‘Spitfire Sisters’ is all about reframing the classic wartime genre and giving the many women, who were so important to the war effort, a chance to speak and quite literally fly.”

“Spitfire Sisters” tells the many-layered stories of a group of fly-girls in the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA), more commonly known as ‘glamour girls,’ whose camaraderie and daring exploits proved as remarkable as they were unforgettable. Their task of peddle-jumping from base to base, flying 90 types of aircraft was marked as among the most dangerous missions in WWII.

“It’s my dream project,” Malcolm adds.

Dormer also relayed her own enthusiasm for the forthcoming project, stating: “This is a barley known story, a thrilling story; an important story ready to be told by such a passionate voice as Morgan’s.”

Dormer and Fremantle signed a first-look deal last year following the actress’s performance in “Picnic at Hanging Rock.”
