Geena Davis and her fourth husband, pediatric plastic surgeon Dr. Reza Jarrahy, have finalized their divorce, a report says.
Davis, 65, and Jarrahy, 50, recently ended their 17-year marriage after nearly five years of divorce proceedings. The plastic surgeon, who shares three kids with the actress, decided to settle so he can finally move on, an unnamed source told Page Six.
The terms of their divorce were kept confidential, but the source said, "They were very unfavorable to Reza, who agreed to settle just to put this behind him and be free of the nightmare Geena has caused for him."
"Reza has had enough of her narcissism," the insider continued, "so he was willing to take a bad deal just to make her go away and refocus on the kids."
Initially, Jarrahy wanted to end the marriage through mediation, according to the source. He reportedly asked that their assets be divided and child custody be split equally between them. The exes share daughter Alizeh Keshvar, 19, and 17-year-old twin boys Kaiis Steven and Kian William.
However, the "Thelma and Louis" star told Jarrahy "to lawyer up," according to the outlet's source. She reportedly took the position that they were never legally married, so there would be no division of any of their property.
The source said Davis and Jarrahy have collectively spent over $1.5 million in legal fees just for the judge to rule on the validity of their marriage, and it allegedly drove the surgeon "to the brink of bankruptcy."
"For months on end, he had to sleep on friends’ couches, in their spare rooms, and even in his car at times in order to keep up with payments to his lawyer. He couldn’t have his kids with him while living like that, and it broke his heart," the insider claimed.
Davis and their children continued to live in their five-bedroom mansion in Pacific Palisades, California, the insider added. She was allegedly "oblivious to the pain she was causing her family," and her lifestyle "didn't change a bit," according to the source.
"This has been devastating for Reza. Geena’s priorities since day one have been to preserve her lifestyle and wealth above anything else," the insider added.
The actress recently sold the couple's Pacific Palisades home for $5.6 million. None of it went to her ex-husband due to her claim that the house was hers and they were not married, the outlet reported. Their custody terms remain confidential.
Jarrahy filed for divorce in 2018, citing irreconcilable differences. His filing indicated that they separated in November 2017, TMZ reported.
Davis previously testified in Los Angeles Superior Court that she did not believe she was ever legally married to Jarrahy, even though a video of the ceremony shows her vowing to love him as her husband until death. She further alleged that they never obtained a marriage license and were married by his father, whom she insisted was not qualified under New York law to marry the couple.
Jarrahy insisted his father was a legal officiant under Islamic law.
Davis was previously married to restaurateur Richard Emmolo from 1982 to 1983, Jeff Goldblum from 1987 to 1990 and director Renny Harlin from 1993 to 1998.
