‘General Hospital’ Stars Kirsten Storms And Brandon Barash To Divorce: What Happened To ‘Maxie’ And ‘Johnny’?
Say it ain’t so! “General Hospital” stars Brandon Barash and Kirsten Storms are headed toward divorce, Soap Opera Digest wrote in an exclusive report Wednesday. The real-life couple decided to call it quits due to “cliché” irreconcilable differences.
The couple got married in 2013. The following year, Storms gave birth to their daughter, Harper. “We are splitting due to the cliché irreconcilable differences, but we’re splitting amicably,” Barash said. “We have every intention of remaining a family through this and successfully co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the efforts of raising her in a healthy environment.” The actor, who used to play Johnny, added: “This was not a hasty decision; a lot of thought and therapy went into this.”
Storms, who plays Maxie, echoed their decision to split wasn’t easy. “We went to therapy for a long time, trying to figure out how to communicate better with each other,” she said. “It’s not anything that we dislike about each other.” Barash continued: “But we’ve decided that raising our daughter in two separate homes would be a healthier choice for all of us.”
Storms is hopeful about their future relationship, both professional and personal. “I think Brandon and I are really looking forward to getting our friendship with each other back,” she said.
Both actors denied that any affairs occurred during their marriage. Barash simply stated: “People are going to speculate because they always want to, and they always want to place blame, but it was a joint decision that we thought everyone in our family would benefit from.”
Storms and Barash still plan to attend the GH Fantasy Weekend event in East Hanover, New Jersey, this upcoming weekend. Fans don’t have to worry about any awkward tension. “We are getting along, and I would say enjoying each other’s company more now that we don’t have the pressure of what comes with a relationship added on to that,” Storms said.
“General Hospital” airs on ABC weekdays at 2 p.m. EDT.
