'Genshin Impact': Here's What's Coming In Patch 1.6

After weeks of leaks and speculations, MiHoYo has finally revealed the upcoming content for “Genshin Impact’s” next big update, confirming many of the unverified claims that have been making the rounds on the internet for most of the month.

New events, locations and the much-awaited 5-star character Kazuha were all featured in the “Genshin Impact” Patch 1.6 livestream Saturday, but there’s more to the update than just these.

Here’s everything that players can expect in the new “Genshin Impact” patch coming later in June.

Midsummer Island Adventure

“Genshin Impact” will have its first big summer event this year featuring Klee, Barbara and Jean as they go on a vacation in an archipelago off the coast of Mondstadt.

The event will introduce a number of new features as well as a few smaller challenges over its duration. The most notable addition is the new location that will be permanently added to the game. The area is a small group of islands that players will be able to explore by using the new Skiff, a small, seafaring exploration vessel that can also engage enemies in combat.

Summer Skins

The previously-leaked summer skins for Jean and Barbara will be coming to this game in Patch 1.6. Barbara’s skin will be free for all players who complete the associated “Echoing Tales” event. Meanwhile, Jean’s summer outfit will only be available through the in-game shop.

Jean’s outfit can be bought using Genesis Crystals, and it will be available for purchase even after the summer event. However, its price will be discounted for a short time upon release.

New Archon Quest

Patch 1.6 will advance the main story of “Genshin Impact” and will serve as a prelude to the highly-anticipated Inazuma expansion. In the next update, players will be able to travel halfway between Liyue and Inazuma, together with Beidou and her crew.

The story update will flesh out Beidou’s character and introduce Kaedehara Kazuha, a ronin from Inazuma and the game’s newest five-star Anemo character.

New Weekly Boss

A samurai-like puppet called the Maguu Kenki will be introduced in Patch 1.6. This magic-powered boss monster will fight players with both sword and elemental powers. It’s assumed that the Maguu Kenki will drop Kazuha’s ascension materials.
