The second half of “Genshin Impact” Patch 2.3 is right around the corner, and Albedo fans have plenty to be excited about. Apart from the chief alchemist’s return in the limited banner, his signature weapon is also getting added to the game, and it should give players an interesting new way to play their favorite Geo characters.

The Cinnabar Spindle is a new 4-star “Genshin Impact” sword that’s clearly designed for Albedo’s hands. This fancy blade synergizes extremely well with Albedo’s skills and can see some success in the hands of the Traveler as well.

The Spindle won’t be a gacha item, but players will have to put in a bit of effort if they want to get this sword.

Like a few other weapons in “Genshin Impact,” the Cinnabar Spindle will be locked behind the upcoming Shadows Amidst Snowstorms event that’s due to go live Thursday. Players will need to spend some time doing this event to unlock both the sword and all of its refinement materials.

To be specific, players will have to complete challenges around Dragonspine to obtain the sword as well as both Snowstrider and Mysterious Emblems, which will allow players to purchase the Cinnabar Spindle’s refinement materials.

Players need to be Adventurer Rank 20 for this “Genshin Impact” event. Additionally, the quests “For A Tomorrow Without Fear,” “Princeps Cretaceus: Chapter 1” and “Lost In The Snow” must all be completed as prerequisites for Shadows Amidst Snowstorms.

MiHoYo has not yet revealed what kind of challenges will be included in the event, but there will be three different acts covering the entirety of the event’s story. Players will have until Dec. 13 to finish the story, while the event shop will remain until Dec. 20.

The Cinnabar Spindle grants up to 69% bonus DEF when at max level as well as the Spotless Heart passive, which grants an Elemental Skill DMG buff of up to 80% of a character’s DEF value. This damage buff only triggers once every 1.5s.

On paper, the weapon is great for a support-focused Albedo built with high DEF and the Tenacity of the Millelith artifact set. Whether or not the Spindle will replace Albedo’s best builds is still up for debate, however.
