The official release date of "Genshin Impact" on Nintendo Switch would be announced Wednesday at the Gamescom Opening Night Live, fans suspect.

Rumors that the hit gacha game would finally release on Nintendo's hybrid gaming console surfaced after Geoff Keighley, the Canadian journalist, host and producer, shared some interesting announcements about the game on Twitter. Keighley tweeted Monday that "Genshin Impact" fans will get "special news updates" about the game at the Gamescom Opening Night Live.

He also shared when the broadcast would air. The program kicks off on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. ET. It will stream on the official YouTube channel of The Game Awards. Unfortunately, Keighley did not reveal what these special news updates would include.

Fans have a couple of predictions about what the Chinese gaming studio would announce at Gamescom Opening Night Live. One is that it would be just like what happened at the E3 2021 where "Genshin Impact" news was teased.

It turned out miHoYo released a trailer of its upcoming update at that time. The Chinese gaming studio held a broadcast over the weekend, which revealed a wealth of exciting details about version 2.1.

This includes several gameplay videos showcasing that players will have to take on Signora via a new battle. There is a chance that miHoYo could reveal another trailer for Update 2.1 at the event on Wednesday.

The other prediction, which many fans hoped to be true, is the announcement of the official release date of the game on Nintendo Switch. The game was announced to release on the hybrid console in January 2020, long before the game officially rolled out on other gaming platforms.

It was later reported that the developers are having a hard time adjusting to the game because of Nintendo's hardware although the development of the Switch port has started since the beginning of the project. Since then, miHoYo has not shared anything about the game's release on Switch.

"Genshin Impact" was released on Apr. 28, 2021, so fans are hoping that this time it would roll out on the hybrid gaming console. Another possible news that miHoYo might announce at the GamescomOpening Night Live would have something to do with its upcoming anniversary.

"Genshin Impact" is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Android and iOS devices.
