George Clooney has spent decades playing various roles in movies, but the actor is now eagerly taking on his new and most important role: being a dad.

Clooney and his wife, Amal Alamuddin, welcomed their twins Ella and Alexander in June. Clooney became a first-time dad at 56, but "The Monuments Men" star doesn't mind the new responsibility since he has gained a lot of experience and knowledge from his close friends who have children.

"This is an all-new adventure for me, but I've been through it with all my friends, so it's not really that much of a surprise," Clooney told Entertainment Tonight. "[Fatherhood] has made me much older. It doesn't fundamentally change you, but I'm excited to see who these two people are going to be in life. I'm very proud to be [a dad]. I feel honored to be a part of it."

The "Money Monster" star has a number of celebrity friends who are also fathers. One of these is Matt Damon, who, according to Clooney, gives him good parenting advice. Damon and Clooney have been friends for years, with the former describing the latter as a "mess" of a father because the twins were born in June.

"It's true. He's got me. I'm a mess," Clooney said of Damon's assessment of him. "But [Amal] is like an Olympic athlete. You've got two kids, you're breastfeeding like crazy. I'm very good, by the way, at diaper changing."

Clooney, who has gone from Hollywood's most popular bachelor to a doting dad-of-two, never thought that he would have the family he has today. "Honestly, I didn't think I'd be married with two kids!" he said with a laugh. "The world changes! I love being here [in Venice, where he married Amal]. It's a magic, improbable city."

Meanwhile, Clooney has proven himself to be a protective dad. Following the birth of his children, he announced that he is suing some paparazzi for violating their privacy in order to take photos of his twins. "Over the last week photographers from Voici magazine scaled our fence, climbed our tree and illegally took pictures of our infants inside our home," Clooney said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). "Make no mistake the photographers, the agency and the magazine will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The safety of our children demands it."
