Giacomo Gianniotti has opened up about the miscarriages his wife, makeup artist Nichole Gustafson, had and how access to abortion is important.

"Even though my suffering can't be compared to my wife's suffering, I still suffered," Gianniotti said on "The Man Enough" podcast Monday. "I still lost two children. Never gonna get to meet them. Never gonna get to know their names. Never gonna get to push them on a swing. I lost that. That's heavy."

The 32-year-old actor further shared that their "trauma was threefold because the first trauma is finding out you've lost your child, which is hugely traumatic."

He added that "having to go to a medical facility where that child is having to be removed from her body and the finality of that is incredibly traumatizing."

Gianniotti noted the third trauma was to share this tragic news with your "community, loved ones [and] family and friends, and having to relive that trauma through sharing it."

The actor shared that his wife suffered two back-to-back missed miscarriages and explained how a woman's body works during a miscarriage.

"When a woman miscarries, there is an automatic bodily function that allows that woman to pass that child," he added. "[During] a missed miscarriage, the body does not recognize that has happened and therefore does not kick in that response to pass that child."

Stressing the importance of "a medical abortion," Gianniotti said: "[She] needed this basic human right of healthcare to save her life because her body was not doing what it was supposed to do."

Gianniotti shared his story amid fears that the Supreme Court will likely strike down Roe vs. Wade, a 1973 ruling that allowed safe and legal access to abortions in the country.

"It was incredibly difficult, but because of my wife and I's socio-economic privilege, we went to a top healthcare facility, had no problems and got through it as best as we could," he added. "We're able to move on and heal because that right was given to us."

On the work front, Gianniotti is known for playing Dr. Andrew Deluca on the popular TV series "Grey's Anatomy" from 2015 to 2021.
