Gigi Hadid Seeks 'Sole Custody' Of Daughter After Breaking Up With Zayn Malik
Gigi Hadid has reportedly demanded "sole custody" of her one-year-old daughter, Khai, whom she shares with her boyfriend Zayn Malik.
"Since the altercation with Yolanda [Hadid], Gigi refuses to take any risks," a source told InTouch Weekly on Thursday. "Being a single mom doesn’t faze Gigi."
The source further explained that the 26-year-old model believes in raising her daughter alone rather than being "trapped in a toxic relationship" with the "Nobody Is Listening" star.
Whereas, Malik is reportedly planning to hire the "best attorneys money can buy" in order to fight for his daughter as he seeks co-parenting. "There is not a chance in hell that Zayn is going to walk away from Khai," the source added. "He loves her with all his heart."
The news of the couple calling it quits came out on Oct. 28 after Malik’s allegedly struck Hadid's mother, Yolanda, 57.
The former "One Direction" member later issued a public statement on Twitter, noting that he is a "private person" and wants to "create a safe and private space" for his daughter to grow up in.
"In an effort to protect that space for her [Khai] I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member [referring to Yolanda] of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago," he wrote.
Moreover, Malik shared his intention of restoring a "peaceful family environment" to co-parent his daughter "in a manner in which she deserves."
Hadid, who maintained silence publicly throughout the split, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a series of photos featuring her on the sets of "Project Runway," which is a reality TV show and slated to telecast on the Bravo network Friday.
The model kept her posts’ comments section turned off.
The estranged couple first began dating in 2015 but were in an on-again, off-again relationship. They welcomed their little bundle of joy in September 2020.
On the work front, Hadid gave voiceover in a Netflix teen comedy, "Never Have I Ever," which was dropped on July 15. Malik was featured in a music video, titled "To Begin Again," which was released on March 17.
