Girl Catches Babysitter Sexually Assaulting 8-Year-Old Sister

A girl caught her babysitter sexually assaulting her eight-year-old sister. The babysitter committed the crime in an upstairs bedroom while his alcoholic mother drank downstairs, a court in Scotland heard Monday.

Vile David Knox, 23, was found guilty of the crime after the victim's six-year-old sister, who walked into the room during the assault, gave evidence.

The man was, however, acquitted of "raping and attempting to rape” the girl. He was also initially charged with assaulting the younger sister. However, he was cleared of these charges in 2010.

Knox had also initially denied nine sexual charges and two charges involving possession of drugs.

Advocate Murdoch McTaggart said the incidents took place between 2010 and 2011 either at Knox’s home or the victim’s house.

"They happened in situations where David Knox was babysitting the children. Even if there were adults present, he was supervising them [children],” McTaggart said, Mirror reported.

“The sister interrupted David Knox. X said David Knox was trying to have sex with her on that occasion,” he said, referring to the assault, adding, “Because of other circumstances in these two chaotic households she’s going to be confused about surrounding incidents., perhaps an indication of just two girls trying to cast their minds back to a very traumatic incident.”

The High Court in Edinburgh, however, put off his sentencing till end of February and has ordered for his social work background reports.

Judge Lady Carmichael said Knox’s name was added to the sex offenders’ register with immediate effect. His conviction will also be notified to the Scotland government.

“I do wish to be fully informed about the background here. It was clearly indicated in the evidence that there were potential difficulties. I will continue your bail in the meantime though you must not take it as any indication of the eventual sentence,” Carmichael said.

In a similar incident, a teen babysitter was arrested for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old in Wisconsin . The child was reportedly tied up and gagged during the assaults. He was charged with “repeated acts of sexual assault of a child, strangulation and suffocation and physical abuse of a child.”

“These things don’t really happen very often here so it’s hard to hear. I think it’s important for people to understand these things can happen anywhere, and they should do whatever they can to make sure they’re bringing the safest people they can into their homes,” said Reedsburg police chief Tim Becker, Channel 3000 reported.
