‘Girls’ Season 6 Spoilers: Hannah, Shoshanna Struggle To Find Themselves In Episode 1 [RECAP]
“Girls” Season 6 premiered on Sunday night with Hannah (Lena Dunham) still struggling to make one of her biggest dreams come true: to have her book published.
But before dwelling on the possibility that her work may never find its rightful editor and publisher, Hannah was first given the chance to write a magazine piece on how infatuated Hamptons women are with their surf instructor, played by Riz Ahmed. In order to familiarize herself with the professional surfer, Hannah had to spend a lot of time with him. At one point, they ended up hooking with each other. This didn’t come as a surprise since the four lead characters in the hit HBO series are known for hooking up and sleeping with random men and even women.
Elsewhere, Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) struggled with finding a longterm job that will suit her. The character experienced a similar thing when she was in Japan. She was at a loss and didn’t have many friends. Eventually, she decided to come back home and reunite with her gal best friends.
Meanwhile, episode 1, titled “All I Ever Wanted,” was directed by Dunham. The episode is part of a three-part installment that will have a direct connection from the storylines from Seasons 1 to 5. Episode 2, titled “Hostage Situation,” will focus on Hannah acting as chaperone for Marnie (Allison Williams) and her ex-husband, Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). The two will eventually hook up and this will stress Hannah out tremendously. Also in episode 2, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) will attend a networking opportunity that Shoshanna didn’t invite her to.
In other news, episode 3, titled “American Bitch,” will focus on Hannah being involved with an older man. The two characters will connect quickly since they both struggle with their insecurities.
“Girls” Season 6 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
