Giuliana and Bill Rancic have struggled with fertility issues for several years, but now the couple have some exciting news to share - they are expecting a baby!

We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered, Giuliana told E! News.

We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey, Bill continued.

The Rancics are expecting the baby through a gestational surrogate, meaning the baby is the Rancic's biological child, but that another woman is carrying it. The baby is due in the late summer and the couple knows the sex of the baby, but we're seeing how long we can keep it secret.

2007

Giuliana and Bill Rancic married in 2007 and started trying for a baby in 2009, but the couple experienced fertility issues.

2010

In March 2010, the couple began IVF treatments and Giuliana became pregnant in spring of that year. However, unfortunately, she suffered a miscarriage nine weeks later. In November 2010, the couple started IVF treatments again, but the procedure did not result in a pregnancy.

2011

In late 2011, the Rancics decided to try IVF treatments again after taking a break for a year to just enjoy themselves. This time around Giuliana's fertility doctor requested that she have a mammogram before they started the the fertility treatments again. The mammogram revealed that Giuliana had the early stages of breast cancer. Giuliana and Bill revealed the news on the Today show on October 17, 2011 and revealed that Giuliana was undergoing a double lumpectomy, followed by radiation. However, the lumpectomy and radiation did not work and Giuliana decided to have a double mastectomy. On December 5, 2011 Giuliana underwent the surgery and returned to work two weeks later. Giuliana said that the surgery was successful and that her treatment has been going good. Through their whole ordeal the couple kept their desire to have a baby and kept moving forward.

I'm not gonna give up, Giuliana said back in October. That baby will have saved my life. There's some master plan. Now I know that [God] was looking out for me.
