‘A Godwink Christmas’ Hallmark Movies Premiere: Cast, Trailer, Synopsis

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries continues its Miracles of Christmas premieres with “A Godwink Christmas,” starring Kimberley Sustad and Paul Campbell, on Sunday.

Despite being in quite a few Hallmark movies over the last few years, it’s been a while since fans have gotten to see Sustad as the leading lady instead of as a supporting character. She starred opposite Brandon Routh in Hallmark Channel’s “The Nine Lives of Christmas” in 2014 before sliding down the credit sheet for her next few Hallmark flicks. But now she’s back at it, this time with Campbell, whose last Hallmark flick was 2017’s “Sun, Sand & Romance.”

“As Christmas approaches in St. Louis, Paula Mayer (Sustad), a young antique appraiser, reluctantly accepts a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, Daniel (Giles Panton), a career-focused attorney with a practical-minded approach to romance,” the synopsis starts. “When her aunt Jane (Kathie Lee Gifford), a successful author, senses she has mixed emotions surrounding her engagement, she invites Paula to her Nantucket home for a well-needed weekend getaway.”

After she arrives, Paula decides to head over to Martha’s Vineyard for a little shopping. Once there, she meets inn owner Gery Conover (Campbell), who’s about to celebrate his first Christmas post-divorce. The two get the chance to spend more time together when bad weather forces Paula to stay overnight at Gery’s inn.

“During her stay on Martha’s Vineyard, circumstances lead to Paula’s enjoying Christmas traditions alongside Gery as he arranges a holiday charity event,” the synopsis continues. “When they realize they share a passion for making restorations and ‘giving new life to old things,’ they begin having feelings for each other. But when the weather clears up and she’s able to leave the island, Paula parts ways with Gery and returns to Nantucket.”

Paula’s aunt senses that her niece has fallen for the inn owner and tells her that their meeting was actually God’s way of “winking” at her to show her which path to take in life. Despite Jane telling Paula she should follow her heart and go to see Gery, Daniel surprises Paula in Nantucket and she decides to go back home with him.

“But back in St. Louis, Daniel soon returns to his all-business ways and a fed-up Paula finally realizes they’re not compatible,” the synopsis shares. “When Jane invites her back to Nantucket for Christmas, Paula accepts, unaware that Jane has devised a plan to bring her and Gery together for the holiday.”
