Golden Globe awards for 2011 go on expected lines
It is the season of awards, after just having put away the trophies for the Critics’ choice, the competitors gathered at the HPFA’s 68th Golden Globe Award Ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to find out who wins this time. The unexpected did not happen much.
Natalie Portman Won the Best actor(Drama) for Black Swan again, Colin Firth (Drama)for The King’s Speech. Best drama went to The Social Network, Best comedy/musical to The Kids are Alright.
Big surprise was Paul Giamatti for Barney’s Version, Best actor (musical/comedy) and actress went to Annette Benning.
Best foreign language film was A Better World by Susanne Bier, a Danish film which is again facing protests as an anti –Muslim film. The film deals with how things go wrong in an apparently safe society where laws and rules are followed and how they are interpreted juxtaposed against an unruly state in an unspecified region of Africa.
Supporting actor and actress both went to The fighter-Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
Best Director-David Fincher for The Social Network , it won for the Best Score and Screenplay also.
Best Animation Film as expected, Toy Story-3.
