Golden Globes 2016 Hosted By Margaret Cho? Twitter Casts Votes For 73rd Award Show After Final North Korea Joke
After three years of hosting the Golden Globes, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are finally done with their award duties. The two comedians joked throughout the night about their last stint as hosts on NBC, and left viewers with a hint as to who could be running the show during the 2016 Golden Globes -- Margaret Cho!
“Show over,” the “North Korean Army general” (aka Cho) announced after “Boyhood” won the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama. “I host next year. Good night.”
The comedian first appeared on stage during the middle of the award ceremony when Fey and Poehler introduced her as the latest member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a female contributing journalist for WOW Magazine and a North Korean Army general. Cho’s character followed up on several jokes that the hosts made about North Korea and the controversial comedy “The Interview” during their opening monologue.
Of course, Margaret Cho is not officially hosting the 2016 award show. With no replacement for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler announced, Twitter users took to the social media site to name their desired hosts for the Golden Globes:
