Google Maps On iPhone X Gets Much-Needed Update, Here's What's New

Nearly a month after Apple released the iPhone X, Google finally released an update to Google Maps that allows device owners to better use the app.
Apple released the 10th anniversary iPhone on Nov. 3, shortly after releasing the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X’s look is different from previous iPhone models with its edge-to-edge OLED screen display, no home screen and with a notch at the top of the screen.
The new screen did not bring out the best user experience out of the app. Many users complaining about the bad look of Google Maps on the iPhone X on social media. Those calls were heard -- even though it took weeks for Google to release a fix.
“This release brings support for iPhone X in addition to bug fixes that improve our product to help you discover new places and navigate to them,” the app’s update description said on Thursday.
Here's how Google Maps looks like on the iPhone X after the update:

Throughout November, people on Twitter complained about the amount of time Google was taking to update the app for the iPhone X.
Hey @Google when are you going to optimize your apps for iPhone X??? This is just embarrassing and frustrating tbh 😤 #Gmail #GoogleMaps #StreetView #GoogleCalendar #GoogleNews

Google Maps still hasn’t updated for iPhone X, so I checked out Apple Maps for the first time in years.

It’s actually a pretty good experience. 😮
Don’t understand @google’s foot-dragging on iPhone X app support. This is how you lose customers.
@googlemaps your app on the iPhone X looks absolutely archaic. Gimme an update!

To update Google Maps on the iPhone X, iOS users can go to the App Store, find the app under Updates and tap Update. Those who deleted the app can download it again and will have Google Maps up to date.
Google Updates Its Apps For The iPhone X And iOS 11
Beside Google Maps, Google also updated other apps, including Google Docs and Google Sheets, this week for the iPhone X and iOS 11 users. The update comes months after iOS 11 was officially released in September alongside the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Google Sheets

Google Docs
The Google Docs app was also updated for iOS 11 and iPhone X support. Like Google Sheets, the update (version 1.2017.46204 ) allows users to quickly drag and drop content from other apps into the Google Docs app. The update also includes bug fixes and performance improvements.
Google Drive
The Google Drive app also got an update this week. The new version includes bug fixes and improvements. Users can download the app here or update (version 4.2017.45603) it on the App Store.
