Google Nexus 2016 Rumors: 6 Features That Are Expected On The Next Nexus Smartphone
Like last year, Google is expected to release two Nexus smartphones this year. One of them will be premium smartphone whereas the other will be an upper midrange smartphone. The rumor mill started guessing on the new features that will be available on the premium edition of Google Nexus 2016 smartphone.
Here are the 6 features that are expected to arrive on the successor smartphone for Google Nexus 6P:
Metal Unibody Design
One of the major competitors for the Nexus 2016 smartphone will be the iPhone 7. Both smartphones are expected to release in the last quarter of this year. HTC is rumored to manufacture the Nexus 2016 smartphones. The company is known for building its flagship smartphones with full-metal design. Hence, the upcoming Nexus 2016 smartphone will pit against the metal-clad iPhone with a metal unibody design.
Topnotch Camera
The Google Nexus 6P built by Huawei is fitted with a 12.3-megapixel camera. However, it lacks optical image stabilization (OIS) feature that has become a common feature on most flagship smartphones. Hence, the Google Nexus 2016 rumors suggest that it will be featuring an enhanced camera with OIS onboard.
Expansion Slot
Samsung had axed the microSD card feature on Galaxy S6 models. However, it has brought back the feature on Galaxy S7 while still maintaining the same glass-metal design. HTC is also rumored to include microSD card slot on its forthcoming HTC One M10 flagship.
Wireless Charging
The LG Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6 smartphones have wireless charging feature, which was axed on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones. The said feature has also become a common feature on current flagships. Hence, the Google Nexus 2016 smartphones to carry support for it.
Android VR Support
According to BGR, Google is working on a virtual reality product like Samsung Gear VR headset. The Google Nexus 2016 smartphone is expected to carry support for it, Yibada reported.
Android N
The launch of Nexus 2016 smartphone will mark the arrival of Android N software that will replace the Android M OS. Some of the rumored features include inbuilt split-screen feature and support for upcoming Android VR gear.
